Cinematically Cinched...at the Waist

A Place in the Sun, 1951
Starring: Elizabeth Taylor, Montgomery Clift
Costumes: Edith Head, natch
It's rather hard to decide just who is more beautiful in this classic tale of an outsider trying--and failing--to fit in: Liz Taylor or Monty Clift. It's also hard to conjecture who got the most man-tail, but then again between those two ladies, it could easily be a toss up. But for now, Liz gets the beauty cake based on this stunning princess gown that introduced her to the world as a mature, talented and intoxicating ingenue.

Like sitting in taffeta, darling.
